Travel diaries: Congo
On Thursday 5 June 1930 at 6.25 a.m., the train linking Brussels to Antwerp left the Gare du Nord station, with Tintin and Snowy on board. Readers of Le Petit Vingtième had already found out his destination a week before: the
Congo. From Antwerp Central Station
it didn't take long for Tintin and Snowy to get to the embarkation quays, lined with steamships ready to sail away for distant shores and suffused with an exciting sense of the unknown.
Television was unheard of at that time, as was the internet, which today brings the whole world within reach of the inquisitive web surfer.
